BEHOLD THE KING!

Sarah Jo Wood:  The Lockdown Composer

I was challenged on Christmas Day that I couldn't compose & record a Christmas Carol for the following year.

This was my first composition and started my composing journey, it is therefore very special to me.

LYRICS

Verse 1

Gabriel, an angel from the Lord,

Came to Mary, filled with word from God,

‘Twas the saviour, Isaiah had foretold,

Born from God and here to save the world,

A legend to be born,

Behold the King!

Chorus A

A shining light who came to save us all,

A legacy of love for one and all,

And wisemen came to see him,

A star shone through the way so they could say,

Behold the King!

Verse 2

Mary went, with Joseph by her side,

Leaving life in Nazareth behind,

T’wards the town of David they made way,

Bethlehem, where he’d see first day,

A legend to be born,

Behold the King!

Chorus B

A shining light who came to save us all,

A legacy of love for one and all,

And shepherds came to see him,

The Angel told the way so they could say,

Behold the King!

Verse 3

There was no good shelter to be found,

Just a humble stable in the town,

And a manger, where she laid him down,

Baby Jesus, Lord in swaddling gown,

The legend who was born,

Behold the King!

Chorus A

A shining light who came to save us all,

A legacy of love for one and all,

And wisemen came to see him,

A star shone through the way so they could say,

Behold the King!

Verse 4

Shepherds came too once the Angel told,

Wise men took Myrrh, Frankincense and Gold,

To give Homage to the chosen one,

The Messiah, God’s incarnate son,

The legend who was born,

Behold the King!

Chorus B

A shining light who came to save us all,

A legacy of love for one and all,

And shepherds came to see him,

The Angel told the way so they could say,

Behold the King!
